You’ll find everything your shopping heart desires

#1. Gerard Doustraat

In the Pijp, you’re always in the right place. Whether you want to eat like a king or shop like a queen, Gerard Doustraat is the perfect destination. This street isn’t all that long, yet you’ll find everything your shopping heart desires – from cool concept stores to the cutest home and clothing collections. Try Anna + Nina for jewellery, or how about Love Stories for beautiful lingerie?

#2. Negen Straatjes

Amsterdam’s quintessential ‘Nine Streets’ HAS to be on this list. Do chic boutiques combined with classic canals make your heart beat faster? Then this place is for you! These nine Amsterdam streets have a unique ambience, are extraordinarily beautiful and are bursting with wonderful places to shop. For beautiful clothes, visit Ou boutique  and  Bij ons Vintage, and if you’re a gadget fan, don’t miss Mint Mini Mal.

The Utrechtsestraat is brimming with stylish shops, restaurants and other hip hotspot

#3. Utrechtsestraat

The Utrechtsestraat is brimming with stylish shops, restaurants and other hip hotspots, and it could not be more conveniently located. At one end you’re on the edge of the uber-cool Pijp district, while the other end leads you into the historic centre. Our favourite shops on ‘the Utrechtse’? WolfwareSamsøe & SamsøeWe Are Labels and Essentiel Antwerp. Have a drink at De Huyskamer afterwards.

#4. Zeedijk

Another shopping gem, the Zeedijk, is conveniently close to the station. One of the hippest neighbourhoods of the moment, it’s a place to shop in style – as well as filling up on endless amounts of delicious Asian food. Don’t miss SmibStüssy and Bonne Suits for clothes, and if you’re looking for cool new trainers, then Patta is for you: a paradise for sneaker freaks! Need a unique, preferably limited-edition, pair of kicks? Patta passes the test with flying colours. But beware: choosing just one pair ain’t gonna be easy!

Take care not to get knocked off your hip feet here

#5. Haarlemmerstraat

Take care not to get knocked off your hip feet here, because this street is not only pretty narrow, but also pretty busy – and yes, a bit touristy too. But it’s still worth strolling along the Harlemmerstraat from Amsterdam Central Station towards the Westerpark. Along the way you’ll be tempted by cool fashion, interior and trinket stores, as well as unmissable tasty lunch spots and coffee shops. A must if you have kids: the Teuntje shop, for wonderful gadgets and super cute clothes!

#6. Czaar Peterstraat

This shopping street is less obvious (and less central) than, for example, the Haarlemmerstraat, but it is definitely worth your time. There are all kinds of hip hotspots, the classic Dutch kids’ film Ciske de Rat was filmed there (ah, nostalgia!) and sandwich lovers will be thrilled by the real peanut butter shop and Kef, which boasts the country’s best cheeses. Love a shop with a difference? Then jump into CP113, the first concept store in Amsterdam! Vintage items meet fashion by must-have brands from home and abroad. Want to sit down? Grab a coffee and a cake from Van Moss Bakery. We like!

This street ain’t pretty, and it’s as long as it is busy (very), but it’s home to the (flagship) stores of lots of global brands

#7. Kalverstraat

Well, you either love it – or you don’t. This street ain’t pretty, and it’s as long as it is busy (very), but it’s home to the (flagship) stores of lots of global brands. A walk along Kalverstraat takes you past ZARA, Superdry, H&M, Under Armour, Urban Outfitters, Vans, Costes and Monki. Mention of honour goes to the LEGO flagship store. Amsterdam facades, world-famous works of art by Dutch painters and the capital’s canals are portrayed in miniature here. You’ll find exclusive LEGO sets and you can even build your own LEGO double! The Kalverstraat starts on Dam Square (first have a nose around the Bijenkorf department store) and takes you to the Munt in quite a few shopping steps.
